.Sasol New Signatures
History was made when Nelspruit became one of the pick up points for the Sasol New Signatures Competition and we sincerely hope that this will be an ongoing arrangement! One of our members : Maria Pienaar ‘s work was selected and we are extremely proud of her. Out thanks to Sarah Koster from Mica whom arranged and hosted the event!
The launch of the New Signatures will be on the 4th May 2011 at Van Riebeeck PArk Hall
.EXHIBITION-White River Gallery
The Gallery called for artwork during FIFA soccer world cup 2010, The exhibition showcased local artists, including Harold and Leigh Voigt,
Anton and Hanalie Bosch, Erica Schoeman, Ilona Petzer, Karen Daymond and more.
Local artists were grateful for this opportunity
.Art Exhibition hosted by Mbombela Local Municipality
The article in the local newspaper read: “Mbombela Local Municipality will be showcasing beautiful works of art art of local artists at Van Riebeeck Hall….
We thank the Municipality and especially Marietjie Henning for all her hard work . Also a big thanks to those artists who spent time manning the two venues (Van Riebeeck and The Loop)
.The Loop Art Foundry and Gallery:
The Loop Art Foundry has been generous by offering their premises for the purpose of an art exhibition and thus the LAA hosted an exhibition in July 2010. During Innibos 2010 artists will also have the opportunity to exhibit their work at this gallery, as Innibos will be doing major advertising about this gallery.
Thanks to Michael who made this possible
This gallery is however in the middle of an industrial area and the LAA is still looking for a suitable venue to manage a permanent art gallery for our members. Funding is however a huge problem and up to now we have had no support from our local government. A permanent gallery seems to be our major stumbling block!
.Two members jetted off to Paris
Ilona Petzer and Yvonne Ankerman had the privilege to spend two months in the Cite International des Arts . “This has been an amazing experience and we are grateful to have had this opportunity. Our thanks to SANAVA who made this possible” ilona And Yvonne will be showing their pictures early in October.
